Press plate and endless press belt manufacturer Sandvik Surface Solutions, Ennepetal, Germany, has announced that it is to concentrate all its energies on the development of smooth and textured surfaces for short cycle press plates and endless press belts. As a result, the company will cease production of double-sided-textured HPL press plates with immediate effect.
"This move will enable us to focus solely on short cycle press plates and endless press belts," said Sascha Porst, Global Product Manager, explaining the decision. "This is our core business and the area in which we can deliver greatest value to our customers.
"Our strengths lie in engineering know how and the development of ideas, working with customers to brings new designs, both smooth and textured surfaces, to market.
"The decision to end production of double-sided-textured HPL press plates was not taken lightly but market pricing means this is no longer a profitable area. Concentrating our investment and expertise on press plates and endless press belts will enable us to deliver an even stronger service to our global customer base in this market."
