Saint-Gobain Technical Fabrics' Russellville Facility Receives Elite Diamond Award from Saint-Gobain

(Grand Island, NY) - The Saint-Gobain Technical Fabrics facility located in Russellville, Alabama has become the newest recipient of the prestigious Diamond award from Saint-Gobain in the small plant category. Established in 1990, the Diamond award is the company's top award for health, safety and environmental (HSE), recognizing only 25 facilities worldwide. The award was presented to Ron Franklin, Glass mat Operations Manager, during the Safety Awards dinner on March 14, 2011.

For a Diamond award consideration the facility must meet certain standards just to be eligible for nomination. The selection process takes several months which focuses on over 30 criteria in 3 main areas: Performance Metrics, Health & Safety Program Elements and Best Practice/Safety Excellence. Each nominated location is reviewed and audited based on their performance in each area. The award is so selective that the Russellville, AL location is only one of two plants in North America to receive the Diamond Award this year.

"It is rewarding to see the Russellville teammate's hard work and commitment to safety and environmental performance recognized. I'm extremely proud of all their accomplishments" said Ron Franklin.

The Russellville facility was also inducted into the Saint-Gobain Millionaires Club for safety in 2010 for having a record of over one million hours or 5 years without a lost-time accident. The plant produces nonwoven glass mat reinforcement products for a variety of applications and industries including roofing and drywall.
