SAVE THE DATE: ANSI Announces 2009 Open Forum for Standards Developers
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced that the 2009 Open Forum for Standards Developers will be held on June 16-17, 2009, in Washington, DC.
The forum is the fifth in a series of ANSI-sponsored events focused on bringing together leaders of both accredited and non-accredited standards developing organizations (SDOs). It is open to all interested stakeholders, including SDOs, consortia and other fora, industry, government and consumers.
Since its debut in March 2005, this annual event has addressed a broad spectrum of issues that are directly impacting the standard-setting community.
"Past participants have strongly recommended that ANSI continue to coordinate and host these sessions," said ANSI president S. Joe Bhatia. "Through these meetings, ANSI facilitates information sharing and dialogue to promote cooperation, collaboration, harmonization and collective solution development."
In the coming months, ANSI will issue a survey for interested stakeholders to help shape the program of the 2009 Open Forum. Last year's survey results led to a diverse and engaging program agenda that addressed the pros and cons of collaborating with other standards developing organizations; emerging technology in the standards setting arena; emerging industry sector trends; and streamlining and improving standardization activities and services.
The event will be held at the Kellogg Conference Center and Hotel at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. More details, including information on the upcoming survey, registration information, and the agenda, will be posted to the ANSI events page as they become available.
