Rohde & Schwarz Demonstrates Powerful Test Solutions for Tomorrow's Technologies at the Mobile World Congress

LTE, CDMA2000®, WLAN 802.11ac, MHL: At the Mobile World Congress, Rohde & Schwarz presents test and measurement solutions for existing and future standards (hall 1, booth E51). Highlights include a new generation of products for testing audio and video interfaces. The latest solutions for location-based services, MIMO drive test measurements and end-to-end WLAN tests will also be demonstrated.

Munich - In Barcelona, the R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication tester from Rohde & Schwarz is the featured product. This multistandard platform performs RF, protocol, performance and application tests on wireless devices for LTE (FDD and TDD), WCDMA, HSPA+, GSM and CDMA2000. The R&S CMW500 can also test the handover between these technologies. A major topic for the industry will be the rollout of voice services in LTE networks. To support these services, wireless devices will use the new voice over LTE (VoLTE) technology. This will present a major challenge for network operators and manufacturers of wireless devices. To help them meet this challenge, Rohde & Schwarz offers a new test solution based on the R&S CMW500 and the R&S UPV audio analyzer which allows signaling and audio quality tests for VoLTE. A new test solution for WLAN-RF and end-to-end data testing on wireless devices is also available.

Mobile high definition link

Rohde & Schwarz presents the first universal platform that allows manufacturers of wireless devices to precisely test video and audio interfaces. This unique all-in-one solution for development and production measures all protocol layers and media content. The primary focus is on mobile high definition link (MHL). This new interface standard is ideal for high-resolution video content that is transferred via LTE. It also offers a direct interface to connect a tablet PC, smartphone or other wireless device to a high definition multimedia interface (HDMI) device. The consumer electronics industry needs reliable test solutions for MHL. The latest generation of test and measurement equipment from Rohde & Schwarz fulfills this market requirement.

Location-based services

Location-based services (LBS) are currently conquering the mobile telephone market. These mobile services use position-dependent data to provide end users with special information. To satisfy the test requirements for LBS, Rohde & Schwarz is introducing the universal, scalable R&S TS8980LBS test system. LBS conformance tests, such as SUPL2.0, can be performed with this system. In addition, specific test solutions for network operators can be implemented. The test system integrates the R&S CMW500 as the system simulator and the R&S SMBV100A as the satellite simulator. The R&S SMBV100A signal generator supports GPS, Galileo and Glonass. The R&S TS8980LBS also automates complex test sequences.

MIMO

The R&S ROMES4.65 drive test software from Rohde & Schwarz covers the latest mobile radio standards. The updated software version of the proven drive test solution allows network operators and infrastructure manufacturers to also perform MIMO-specific measurements in LTE networks. The obtained data helps to determine where MIMO functions best in a specific coverage area and where investments in MIMO pay off. Together with the new software, the R&S TSMW drive test scanner not only supports LTE, but also previous standards such as UMTS, GSM and CDMA. It also covers all frequency bands from 30 MHz to 6 GHz, i.e. including future bands, making it an investment for the future.

WLAN 802.11ac and LTE-Advanced

Rohde & Schwarz also offers products that can handle the LTE-Advanced and WLAN 802.11ac wideband communications standards. For instance, the R&S FSW signal and spectrum analyzer combines a demodulation bandwidth of 160 MHz with a multistandard radio analysis function. This allows users to simultaneously analyze multiple mobile radio and wireless standards at different frequencies. The R&S SMU200A and R&S SGS100A signal generators complete the offering.

On February 28, 2012, a press day will be held for journalists at the Rohde & Schwarz booth E51 in hall 1 starting at 9:30 a.m.
