MILWAUKEE, Jan. 22, 2007 - Rockwell Automation, a leading global provider of automation, power, control and information solutions, announced that Matt Bauer, market development director for Information Software at Rockwell Automation, has been named chairman of the board of directors for the Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions Association (MESA) International. MESA, a community of manufacturing end users, system integrators, hardware and software suppliers, industry analysts and consultants, is focused on improving manufacturing production systems through open forums that exchange ideas and interpret emerging standards.
As chairman, Bauer will work with MESA to promote the exchange of best practices, strategies and innovation for managing manufacturing operations, as well as achieving plant-floor execution excellence.
"MESA is fortunate to have someone as committed to its mission as Matt on our board," said DeAnn Fedyski, executive director, MESA. "Matt's leadership and vision will allow our organization to address the challenges facing the manufacturing end users around the world and assist them in achieving their business goals."
As one of eight keystone sponsors, Rockwell Automation is heavily involved in the MESA organization, committing time and resources to its mission as part of its ongoing commitment to industry standards and interoperability. Rockwell Automation involvement includes participation in MESA research, planning, messaging and strategic direction for the MESA organization. Bauer also has key involvement in the planning direction for the MESA conference, which is viewed by many as an industry barometer. By sharing ideas with other vendors and end users, Rockwell Automation remains at the forefront of establishing best practices and thought leadership for plant-wide information strategies.
Most recently, the company co-sponsored the Metrics that Matter industry survey conducted by MESA and Industry Directions Inc. to increase manufacturers' understanding of the roles metrics play in corporate performance improvement initiatives. The survey examines plant and operational key performance indicators (KPIs) commonly in use and how they relate to business and financial metrics. The objective is to show how companies can justify plant software investments and understand how plant improvements can accelerate financial success. The survey was released in October 2006.
