FREMONT, Calif.-(May 13, 2009)- Phihong, a global leader in power solutions, has announced that its 5W USB adapter with interchangeable plugs is compliant with the new, more stringent ENERGY STAR® External Power Supply (EPS) Version 2.0 requirement. The PSB05R adapter, model number PSB05R-050Q(A)-R, is also in compliance with the United States' Federal Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). Featuring fieldchangeable AC plugs specific to the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom, and Australia, the PSB05R adapter is ideal for wireless communications, peripherals, networking, and portable and mobile equipment.

The goal of ENERGY STAR's EPS 2.0 specification, which went into effect November 1, 2008, is to recognize products with an efficient power conversion process. All power supply products that meet or exceed the performance requirements for level V ENERGY STAR efficiency marking protocol, which corresponds to specific minimum active and no-load efficiency levels, qualify as ENERGY STAR Version 2.0 compliant.
Phihong's EPS 2.0-compliant PSB05R USB adapter features a USB-A receptacle built into the case and is compatible with four interchangeable clip plugs, each sold separately, which enable it to connect to virtually every power outlet worldwide. This global compatibility reduces OEM inventory counts by allowing for the use of a single part number, as well as simplifies the international approval process for products designed for global markets.
The PSB05R adapter boasts a fully regulated 5VDC output rated at 1A and a maximum no-load power consumption of 0.3W. It also features short-circuit protection, over-current protection, and over-voltage protection, and is rated to operate between 0o and 45o C and between 20% and 90% humidity. Additionally, the adapter bears cULus, TUV, SAA, C-Tick, and CE safety approvals and markings.
The PSB05R USB adapter measures 2.97 inches in length by 1.81 inches in width by 1.25 inches in height and weighs 2.16 ounces.
