People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.
The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), an organizational member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced the appointment of Erik Heilman as director of government affairs for the trade association serving the forest products industry. Mr. Heilman will be responsible for promoting AF&PA's policy positions on Capitol Hill for climate change, tax, and trade issues.
With a background in the legislative and executive branches of the federal government, Mr. Heilman has extensive knowledge of international trade and the legislative process. He previously served in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, the Department of Commerce, and both the U.S. House and the Senate.
"Erik will bring extensive Capitol Hill experience and contacts that will help AF&PA effectively advance policies that promote a strong and sustainable U.S. forest products industry," said AF&PA president and CEO Donna Harman.
Mr. Heilman earned a bachelor of arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a master of science degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
