Open Forum for Standards Developers Rescheduled to Coincide with WSW 2009
In response to member feedback on the financial impact of business travel, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced that the Open Forum for Standards Developers meeting has been rescheduled to coincide with the Institute's World Standards Week 2009 (WSW) this October.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, from noon to 5:00 p.m., as part of the WSW series of events in Bethesda, MD. This relocation will allow members and stakeholders who will already be in Bethesda for WSW to attend the Open Forum meeting without incurring additional travel expenses.
"ANSI is dedicated to ensuring that its events are inclusive, and that cost is not a prohibitive factor for those who are interested in attending," said S. Joe Bhatia, ANSI president and CEO. "For the Open Forum in particular, a wide range of stakeholders and points of view enriches the discussion. By co-locating meetings whenever possible, ANSI is working to ensure that all interested stakeholders are able to participate."
The forum is the fifth in a series of ANSI-sponsored events focused on bringing together leaders of both accredited and non-accredited standards developing organizations (SDOs). It is open to all interested stakeholders, including SDOs, consortia and other fora, industry, government, and consumers.

WSW is an annual occasion where members of the standards and conformity assessment community meet in the spirit of cooperation and collaboration. The series of events that take place during the week include meetings of several ANSI groups and committees, the ANSI Awards Banquet and Ceremony, and ANSI's Annual Business Meeting and Luncheon.
