Online Part Locator Helps Engineers to Find the Right Oscillator Fast

October, 2006, Durham, NC - C-MAC MicroTechnology takes the hard work out of finding the best frequency control component for a particular application with its new online part locator, launched today. Using this new tool, to be found at www.cmac.com/fcp/products/part-locator.php, engineers simply type their key requirements into an intuitive online form to output a reference table of suitable oscillators, with quick links to the full specification sheet for each.

The part locator covers C-MAC's entire range of standard crystal oscillator products, including OCXOs (oven controlled crystal oscillators), TCXOs (temperature compensated crystal oscillators), VCXOs (voltage controlled crystal oscillators), SPXOs (simple packaged crystal oscillators), factory programmable oscillators for fast delivery, and oscillators approved by communications chipset manufacturers Semtech and Zarlink Semiconductor.

Users first enter four required parameters - output frequency, operating temperature range, frequency stability over temperature range, and supply voltage - and then have the option of also specifying voltage control of output frequency, manual frequency adjustment capability, output waveform, package style and RoHS compatibility. Other characteristics of each resulting oscillator range can be assessed by viewing the downloadable data sheets.

"C-MAC's current Frequency Product Data Book is over 300 pages thick, so picking out the best specification for the application at hand is not a trivial undertaking," said Stuart Clifton, General Manager of C-MAC's Frequency Control Products business unit. "Engineers are busy people, so we thought we'd make life a little easier for them."

Due to the wide range of parameters that can be specified, it is inevitable that certain combinations will not yield results from C-MAC's standard product range. However, the company's engineers are well versed in producing custom components to individual requirements, and simply hitting the 'Request info' button will automatically send your specifications to C-MAC for evaluation.
