LOS ANGELES, Sept. 25, 2006 -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) announced today that its board of directors has elected Stephen D. Yslas corporate vice president, secretary and deputy general counsel, effective December 15, 2006.

Yslas will succeed John H. Mullan, who has elected to retire on December 31, 2006. Mullan will remain with the company and assist with the transition until his retirement.

Yslas currently is Northrop Grumman's vice president and deputy general counsel. In his new role, he will be responsible for the corporate secretary and governance function and will serve as deputy general counsel, supervising general legal activities with particular responsibility for international and certain regulatory matters.

"Steve's leadership in the law department, his focus on our regulatory efforts during our period of major acquisitions, and his consent decree compliance work have contributed greatly to the development of Northrop Grumman during his 31 years with the company," said Ronald D. Sugar, chairman and chief executive officer, Northrop Grumman Corporation.

Prior to his joining Northrop Grumman, Yslas was employed by the Atlantic Richfield Company and the National Labor Relations Board. He served for 10 years as a police commissioner on the City of Los Angeles Police Commission. He has been active in various organizations, including the Hispanic National and Mexican American Bar Associations. He has served as a trustee of Claremont McKenna College.

Yslas earned a bachelor's degree from UCLA and a juris doctorate from UCLA School of Law.

Mullan will retire after 31 years of service. "We greatly appreciate John's contributions to the company through a significant period in our growth, and we wish him all the best," said Sugar.
