North American EBCIs indicate conducive economic environment.

June 29, 2012 - NEMA's Electroindustry Business Confidence Index (EBCI) for current North American conditions dropped to 52.4 in June and has retreated 20+ points since reaching post-recession high in February. However, index continues to indicate economic environment conducive to industry growth as it has for each of last 9 months. EBCI for future North American conditions also lowered in June, falling nearly 14 points to 57.1. One-third of panelists expected conditions to improve over next 6 months.

ROSSLYN, Va.-NEMA's Electroindustry Business Confidence Index (EBCI) for current North American conditions slipped to 52.4 in June from 54.2 in May and has retreated more than 20 points since reaching a post-recession high in February. Despite its recent slide, the index continues to point to an economic environment conducive to industry growth, as it has for each of the last nine months. The EBCI for future North American conditions also moved lower in June, falling nearly 14 points to 57.1. One-third of panelists - down from just over half the previous month - said they expect conditions to improve to at least some degree over the next six months.

NEMA is the association of electrical equipment and medical imaging manufacturers, founded in 1926 and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia. Its member companies manufacture a diverse set of products including power transmission and distribution equipment, lighting systems, factory automation and control systems, and medical diagnostic imaging systems.
