Vadnais Heights, MN-Nexen Group Inc. announces its Roller Pinion System (RPS), Universal Rack model is a finalist in the 2012 Control Engineering Engineers' Choice Awards Program. Designed to recognize the best new control, instrumentation and automation products, the Engineers' Choice Award is an annual competition. The publication's print and online subscribers-who vote based on the products' technological advancement, service to the industry and market impact-select the winners.
Nexen's RPS, Universal Rack model delivers high-accuracy linear positioning with zero backlash and simple installation. Differing from a traditional rack and pinion system, the RPS features a unique roller pinion/toothed rack combination. Each tooth profile is precisely measured, ensuring high positional accuracy and eliminating cumulative error. As a result, the RPS, Universal Rack model delivers high positional accuracy to ± 50 ìm (± 0.002 in), and an innovative meshing action results in less than 5 ìm (± 0.0002 in) of backlash.
