Three New WS Series and a New VN Series Model Feature Enhanced Design, Simple Interface and Recording Modes to Capture Conversations, Music and Memos
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Olympus has updated the popular WS Series and VN Series audio recorders with the introduction of the new WS-821, WS-822, WS-823 and VN-722PC which all feature intuitive design and impressive storage capabilities for easy audio capture and note-taking in the classroom or at work.
HIGHEST-QUALITY RECORDING
The new WS-821, WS-822 and WS-823 models feature superb recording with directional stereo microphones positioned at 90-degree angles to capture pristine sound. One of the world’s highest levels of noise cancellation technology reduces background noise in any business environment, whether it’s an intimate meeting room or large conference center, for crystal-clear playback.
The new Transcription Mode on all three WS Series recorders and Voice Playback Mode on the WS-822 and WS-823, provide users an efficient way to transcribe recordings. In the playback mode, the recorder skips the non-voice, dead-air parts of the recording and only plays back parts where there is audio. Their calendar search function makes it easy to retrieve files by date.
The WS-822 and WS-823 include an improved Voice Balancer function which adjusts the recording levels of all speakers in a room to a set level so it’s easier to hear on playback. The WS-823 also features a new Zoom Microphone Mode, which focuses on a voice in the distance by zooming in on the audio source — essential in environments with a lot of ambient sound.
The silver WS-821 features 2GB of internal memory and up to 493 hours of recording in both MP3 and WMA formats. The grey metallic & blue W-822 offers 4GB of internal memory for up to 1,000 hours of recording in PCM, MP3 or WMA and the black WS-823 delivers 1,980 recording hours with 8GB of internal memory also offering three recording formats; PCM, MP3 or WMA.
All three WS Series recorders provide an impressive 37 hours of battery life and come with a microSD slot for up to 32GB of additional storage and a built-in USB that can be easily deployed using the slide lever to plug the recorder directly into a PC for seamless transfer.
COMPACT AND EASY NOTE-TAKING
The newly announced VN-722PC features a large-diameter, low-noise microphone for high-quality digital audio recording in both MP3 and WMA formats. The new design includes a large LCD, buttons and speaker which are convenient and easy to use.
The Simple Mode makes it easy for beginners by displaying only the necessary information in large font on the screen and highlights the most frequently used functions. Telephone Recording and Duplication Mode are available on the VN-722PC and can be used when the recorder is combined with accessories, TP8 telephone pickup or KA333 connection cord, sold separately, to easily record telephone conversations or duplicate from cassette tapes.
A built-in stand on the back of the VN-722PC props up the recorder for easy viewing of the display and access to button controls. The stand also contributes to high-quality recording by reducing the noise emitted directly from the surface.
The VN-722PC has 4GB of internal memory, up to 1,600 recording hours, 100 hours of battery life and compatibility with microSD (up to 32GB) memory cards to offer long recording sessions. The included portable USB cable enables you to download your files to a PC and can now be attached to your recorder so you always have it handy.
AVAILABILITY
WS-821, WS-822, WS-823 and VN-722PC digital audio devices will be available in January 2014. The WS-821 will include an AAA alkaline battery; WS-822 will include an AAA NiMH rechargeable battery and stereo earphones; and WS-823 will include an AAA NiMH battery, stereo earphones, case and a USB cable. The VN-722PC will include two AAA alkaline batteries and a portable USB cable. All models will include an instruction manual and warranty card.
