The Indigo AV mixer, a new concept in live switchers for audio-visual applications from Grass Valley, has been shortlisted for the prestigious InAVation Awards. Nominated in the category of most innovative video signal processing and management product for commercial use, the winner will be chosen by online voting from businesses in the professional audio-visual sector and presented at an awards ceremony in Amsterdam in January.
The Grass Valley(TM) Indigo AV mixer brings broadcast-style video control to the multi-format professional arena for the first time. The video section of Indigo mixer includes full key capability as well as internal scaling of inputs including standard and high definition video and computer graphics. The seamless switcher includes a comprehensive range of video effects, including wipes, DVE moves and multiple layers. Control links allow Indigo to trigger events in other devices, such as playing clips out from the Grass Valley Turbo(TM) iDDR.
Indigo also controls audio for a single-operator solution. The stereo audio mixer incorporates motor-driven faders for automated applications, and for audio-follow-video where transitioning between video sources also mixes the associated audio channels.
The Indigo AV mixer is a very compact desktop unit, with the familiar button and T-bar video user interface and multiple faders for audio. It can also be controlled from the integral colour touch screen. Indigo was launched in August 2006, and is priced from 11,000 euros.
