Press release date: July 19, 2006

DANVERS, MA - ITW Devcon recently merged the respected Devcon® and Permatex® brands to form one of the world's most comprehensive product offerings for OEM assembly and plant maintenance/repair. A new 60-page catalog provides application, technical, and ordering information for all of these products in a colorful, easy-to-follow format.

The new catalog describes a wide variety of maintenance products including Devcon epoxy and urethane compounds for repairing metal, rubber, and other surfaces. Included are coatings for protecting equipment exposed to abrasion, corrosion, and chemicals, as well as Floor Savers(TM) compounds for protecting and repairing concrete floors. Timesaving emergency repair products that allow damaged equipment to be returned to service in minutes are also featured. Permatex lubricants, cleaners, and Fast Orange® hand cleaners complete the MRO product array.

A comprehensive selection of adhesives for OEM bonding includes Permatex instant adhesives, Devcon high-strength epoxies, advanced methacrylates for bonding plastic, and versatile UV light-cured adhesives. An OEM Adhesive Selector Guide helps the reader find the best product for a given substrate or application.

Permatex products for both assembly and repair include liquid and gel threadlockers, retaining compounds, and thread sealants plus a complete line of Permatex form-in-place gasket makers and flange sealants. Special-purpose adhesives for a variety of specialty applications are also available under the Devcon and Permatex brand names. Easy-to-read product specification tables allow simple comparisons of physical and chemical properties such as working time, viscosity, shear strength, chemical resistance, and service temperature. Packaging options, which range from 2-gram tubes to 55-gallon drums and include innovative no-waste dispensers, appear at the end of every product description.

The merger has made it easier for customers to order both Devcon and Permatex products. Through its expanded network of application specialists and distributors in the United States and Canada, ITW Devcon will review a customer's needs, recommend the best product, and even supervise the testing of bonded assemblies. With an expanded research and development team to create products for the future, ITW Devcon can formulate custom adhesives for highly specialized requirements.
