Institute Honors 2009 Award Winners Carnahan, Burton, Kistler



Each year, the National Institute of Building Sciences recognizes individuals and organizations that have made an exceptional contribution to the nation and the building community. This year, the Institute honored Rep. Russ Carnahan (D-Mo.), Building Owners and Managers Association International Vice President of Advocacy and Research Ronald Burton, and Façade Group Principal and BEST2 Conference Organizing Chair Robert Kistler, AIA.

Institute Board Chair Ronald L. Skaggs, FAIA, FACHA, presented the 2009 Honor Award to Rep. Carnahan in recognition of his visionary leadership and commitment to achieving high-performing buildings. Skaggs recognized Burton with the 2009 Institute Member Award for his strong advocacy for building professionals and his dedication to achieving high-performance buildings. Institute President Henry L. Green, Hon. AIA, awarded Kistler the 2009 President's Award for his dedication as coordinating chair of the BEST2 Conference and work on the Institute's Building Enclosure Technology and Environmental Council (BETEC) and as founding chair of the Portland Building Enclosure Council (BEC).
