NETGEAR Wireless-N Networking Products Get Intel 'Connect with Centrino' Certification

Certification follows extensive real-world tests by Intel in typical home and enterprise environments

NETGEAR, a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, has announced that its RangeMax NEXT Wireless-N Routers have become the first wireless networking product in the industry to ship with Intel's 'Connect with Centrino' certification. NETGEAR's RangeMax Wireless-N Routers (WNR834B and WNR854T) have successfully passed the certification process ensuring compatibility and interoperability with Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N.

NETGEAR's RangeMax NEXT Wireless-N Routers, which have been 'tested and verified to work together' with Intel® Next-Gen Wireless N, were subjected to extensive real-world tests by Intel over the course of several months in typical home and enterprise environments. The RangeMax(TM) NEXT Wireless-N Router caters to the modern household by enabling family members to connect to multiple Internet services and online media at Gigabit speeds from anywhere in the house. As the built-in 4-port Gigabit switch delivers up to 1000 Mbps to wired devices, users are guaranteed a faster connection speed to download movies, stream music, make VoIP calls and browse the web simultaneously without the usual hassle of interruptions and freezes.

"As NETGEAR always strives to develop the most innovative products on the market, we are proud to be the first networking vendor to achieve the new 'Connect with Centrino' certification. This delivers a strong, irrefutable message to our customers in regards to the performance, interoperability and compatibility of our RangeMax NEXT Wireless-N product family. During the certification process, the RangeMax NEXT Wireless-N Routers were not only tested for compatibility with Intel® Next-Gen Wireless-N, but were evaluated for performance, extended range, co-existence with other 802.11b/g clients and access points, and the ability to eliminate Wi-Fi dead spots," said Ahmad Zeidan, Channel Sales Manager, NETGEAR Middle East. "We are delighted to work with Intel to provide the Wireless-N infrastructure for making the convergence of entertainment, communication and information in connected homes a reality."

The RangeMax NEXT wireless product family provides the security and ease of use that NETGEAR is known for with a robust set of features including: NAT and SPI firewalls, Touchless WiFi Security, 64- and 128-bit WEP encryption, Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key (WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK), Denial of Service (DoS) attack protection, Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDS), and Exposed Host (DMZ) for secure gaming. NETGEAR's RangeMax(TM) NEXT Wireless-N Routers provides maximum coverage and bandwidth, by utilizing 'Steady-Stream' technology. The preset internal wireless antennas and high-performance testing and tuning provide maximum performance and high-quality streaming every time. NETGEAR has also introduced its EVA700 Digital Entertainer with Intel Viiv technology-verified Digital Media Adapter (DMA), designed to combine home computers with home entertainment systems.

"Intel established the 'Connect with Centrino' programme to ensure that users of Centrino Mobile Technology receive superior rate, range, and robustness in their wireless home network," said Samir Al-Shamma, GM Gulf Countries, Intel Corporations. "NETGEAR, having completed our rigorous certification program, has clearly demonstrated its commitment to promoting and advancing the full capability of the 802.11n draft standard."
