NEMA Salutes Iowa State Fire Marshal for "100 Years, 100%" Campaign



ROSSLYN, Va.-NEMA, the association of electrical equipment and medical imaging manufacturers, commends the Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office for its tireless efforts to protect Iowans and ensure that every home has a working smoke alarm.

To mark its 100th anniversary, the office is conducting a statewide campaign ("100 Years, 100%") to ensure that at least two working smoke alarms are installed in the homes of Iowa schoolchildren.

"It is impossible to overstress the importance of having working smoke alarms or detectors installed in our homes," NEMA President & CEO Evan R. Gaddis said. "Iowa State Fire Marshal Ray Reynolds and his staff should be commended for their leadership in educating Iowans on the importance of life safety and ensuring that school-aged children live in homes with working smoke alarms. These cost-effective devices have been proven to save lives and should be used by everyone everywhere."

According to figures released by the Iowa State Fire Marshal's office, the lives of 186 Iowans were saved in 2011 due to working smoke alarms.
