NEMA Named TAG Administrator for IEC Nanotechnology Comittee


ROSSLYN, Va., September 5, 2006-NEMA, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, has announced that the association has been assigned by theTechnical Management Committee (TMC) of the U.S. National Committee for IEC as the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) Administrator for the newly established IEC/TC 113, nanotechnology standardization for electrical and electronic products and systems. In this role, NEMA will organize participation in the activity, facilitate the development of U.S. proposals for development of standards, and will work with the interested parties in the U.S. to develop positions on proposals from other countries.

The technical committee will cover standardization in the field of nanotechnology relevant to electricity and related technologies within the scope of the IEC. These include electronics, magnetics and electromagnetics, electroacoustics, multimedia, telecommunication, and energy production. Parameters will include terminology and symbols, measurement and performance, reliability, design and development, electromagnetic compatibility, safety, and environment.
