NEMA Announces New Hires

ROSSLYN, Va., September 12, 2006. The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has announced the appointment of three important staff positions, as follows:

Mark R. Tibbetts has been hired as director of business development. "This is a newly established position at NEMA" says NEMA President Evan Gaddis, "and demonstrates our determination to develop a more systematic approach to creating new business opportunities for the association and its members."
Prior to coming to NEMA, Tibbetts was senior manager of development at the American Public Works Association. Prior to that, he was a senior consultant with Cronin Communications, director of site operations with PowerUP, and a program officer with the U.S. Department of Commerce's Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration. He received his baccalaureate degree in political science with honors and a masters in public administration, both from the University of Maine.

Joel Saltzman joins NEMA as its new senior manager of government relations. Saltzman's experience includes four years as counsel to the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, trial and advisory work at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and over ten years as a lobbyist at the American Petroleum Institute. His work portfolio includes energy policy, appropriations, electricity and natural gas regulation, tort reform, occupational health and safety, and the environment. Saltzman has a law degree from Case Western Reserve, and did his undergraduate and graduate work in the environmental sciences at the University of Virginia, and East Tennessee State University, respectively.

Francine Meyer has been appointed as meeting planner. In this newly created position, she will be responsible for planning NEMA's Annual Meeting and Leadership Conference and for coordinating other external meetings. Meyer previously ran her own businesses, FRANQUILTS, a custom quilt making business, and Francine Meyer Consulting Services. Meyer graduated with honors from Michigan State University, earning a bachelor of science degree in consumer and community services.

"We're very pleased with these new hires," says Gaddis. "NEMA is aggressively looking for new ways to add value to membership in NEMA. We are confident that our new staff will contribute to that goal."

NEMA is the trade association of choice for the electrical manufacturing industry. Founded in 1926 and headquartered near Washington, D.C., its 430 member companies manufacture products used in the generation, transmission and distribution, control, and end-use of electricity. These products are used in utility, medical imaging, industrial, commercial, institutional, and residential applications. Domestic production of electrical products sold worldwide exceeds $120 billion. In addition to its headquarters in Rosslyn, Virginia, NEMA also has offices in Beijing, Sao Paulo, and Mexico City.
