Myriad Powers Android Apps on First Jolla Smartphone

Myriad's Alien Dalvik Android runtime enables Jolla smartphone users to access and run hundreds of thousands of Android applications

ZURICH, Switzerland – Myriad Group AG (SIX: MYRN), the company creating and connecting communities across mobile, today announced that its Alien Dalvik software will be integrated into the Sailfish OS, an open operating system, as part of the first Jolla smartphone launch.

With the integration of Myriad's Alien Dalvik into Jolla smartphones, users will be able to easily access Android apps and run them side by side other native applications. Alien Dalvik enables applications written for Android to run unmodified on the Sailfish OS in the exact same way they would run on any Android device. The Jolla smartphone will be released this month at a launch event in Finland with other markets to follow.

Stephen Dunford, CEO of Myriad Group, commented: "We are excited to support Jolla and bring both Android and native apps to its smartphone users through the integration of Myriad Alien Dalvik, and its open operating system, Sailfish OS. Myriad's Alien Dalvik runtime will enable Jolla smartphone users to access hundreds of thousands of apps, including Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Skype, Viber and WeChat, as well as a variety of games, productivity apps and music apps. We are pleased to be able to work closely with Jolla, and in doing so, reinforce our position as a leading global provider of Android runtime software."

Tomi Pienimäki, CEO of Jolla, commented: "Jolla's strategy is to always work with leading and innovative providers like Myriad to create long-term strategic partnerships. We analysed a number of Android runtimes, and quickly established that Alien Dalvik provided greater accessibility to more apps and better overall app performance to support the introduction of our first smartphone, giving our customers a richer experience in using their favourite Android apps."
