Most Prices Unchanged In New Collars and Couplings Price Book

Good news for collars and couplings wholesalers: Collars and Couplings, Inc., is releasing its new price book with few increases.

All coupling prices, except for one metric size, have stayed the same, along with most standard single and double split collars. Only 172 items, or 15 percent of the 1,133 stocked by Collars and Couplings, are going up in price effective Nov. 1.

Wholesalers can call 1-800-593-2323 to order the new price book. It's also available online through a password-protected page. Collars and Couplings caters only to wholesalers, primarily power transmission, industrial supply and fastener distributors. End users who try to order are referred by the company to its authorized distributors.

"We know wholesalers are under the gun to increase sales and control costs," said Dan Whalen, president. "Prices like these will help them sell more, which also means higher commissions for their sales people."

Collars and Couplings was able to hold down 85 percent of its prices by taking several steps over the last six months. First, the company adopted sophisticated forecasting software was adopted to reduce inventory costs. Next, since more wholesalers began using its simple online ordering system, it didn't have to hire additional order entry staff. Finally, it stepped up its lean quality initiatives, such as kaizens, to help cut waste and improve work processes.

"If wholesalers are seeing big price hikes from their suppliers, they can do better by giving Collars and Couplings a try," said Whalen.

A 100% employee-owned company, Collars and Couplings is an ISO 9001:2000 certified supplier of shaft collars and couplings, including RoHS compliant parts.
