Monterey AgResources and Marrone Organic Innovations Join Forces to Market GreenMatch(TM)O an Effective New Organic Herbicide
DAVIS, Calif., Jan. 31 /- Marrone Organic Innovations, Inc. (MOI) is pleased to announce that Monterey AgResources will distribute MOI's new organic herbicide GreenMatch(TM)O in the Western United States.
Targeted for organic growers, GreenMatch is a post emergence, non-selective organic herbicide that contains d-limonene (extract of citrus) as well as other plant extracts and surfactants. GreenMatch kills the weeds by stripping the wax off the leaves of the plants, causing weeds to rapidly shrivel and die, appearing "burned down."
GreenMatch is currently EPA registered for non-crop areas and will be available in summer 2007 for use when crops are present. It will be sold in western states (WA, OR, AZ, ID, UT, HI, NV) except CA in the spring of 2007. GreenMatch meets the requirements of the NOP Rule for use in organic agriculture.
Organic growers have relied on hand weeding, propane flaming, mowing and cultural methods to attack weeds. As such, weeds are the largest cost to organic farming and the primary reason why many conventional farmers don't transition fully to organic practices. "GreenMatch is an excellent first product for MOI because it provides superior weed control at a lower price point than other "naturals" in the market, such as vinegar, soap and oil-based products," said Pam Marrone, Founder and CEO of Marrone Organic Innovations. "We chose Monterey AgResources to market GreenMatch because they have a solid, growing organic product line and access to the growers through dealers," she added.
Marrone Organic Innovations licensed the product from Cutting Edge Formulations in Georgia for the western US, Latin America and Canada.
