Wagner-Meinert Inc., a Fort Wayne, Ind.-based industrial refrigeration and mechanical contractor, set a goal to capture welding fumes more efficiently, increase productivity and reduce heating costs head on.
Based on an on-site demonstration and training from Lincoln Electric, a new process, consumable, welding equipment and fume extraction system were implemented. As a total solution, Lincoln's Power MIG® 300, Statiflex(TM) 200-M, Blue Max® MIG wire, and switching to a Pulsed MIG process, helped Wagner-Meinert meet its environmental and productivity goals.
The result was a 143-percent productivity increase and a 42-percent heating cost reduction despite more than doubling its facility size and dealing with a 190-percent rise in the cost of natural gas.
The Lincoln Electric Company, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, is the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of arc welding products, robotic, arc welding systems, fume extraction equipment, plasma and oxyfuel cutting equipment and has a leading global position in the brazing and soldering alloys market.
