Malvern's Live Online Instrument Demos Show Particle Size and Shape Measurement

11 May 2009: Malvern, UK: This week's live online demonstration of the Sysmex FPIA-3000 particle characterization system is one of three web seminars in Malvern's current programme where participants can see systems being demonstrated and particle size and shape measurements being made live online. As well as featuring on 11 May, the Sysmex FPIA-3000 will be demonstrated again in November, and a live demo of the Morphologi G3 is scheduled for 21 July. For full details of Malvern's the complete web seminar programme and/or to register please visit www.malvern.com/webinar

The Sysmex FPIA-3000 is an automated particle characterization system that provides statistically significant size and shape measurement of particles in suspension. Analyses are performed in just two and a half minutes with minimal sample preparation, making the system ideal for QA/QC applications as well as for R&D.

The Morphologi G3 automated particle characterization system is an analytical tool that provides microscope quality images and delivers statistically significant data through the rapid analysis of thousands of particles. The online presentation includes a live demonstration of the system with sample being dispersed using the integrated sample dispersion unit before analysis. Data exploration tools such as the particle view and scattergram will also be shown. www.malvern.com/webinar

About Malvern Instruments

Malvern Instruments provides a range of complementary materials characterization tools that deliver inter-related measurements reflecting the complexities of particulates and disperse systems, nanomaterials and macromolecules. Analytical instruments from Malvern are used in the characterization of a wide variety of materials, from industrial bulk powders to nanomaterials and delicate macromolecules. A broad portfolio of innovative technologies is combined with intelligent, user-friendly software. These systems deliver industrially relevant data enabling our customers to make the connection between micro (such as particle size) and macro (bulk) material properties (rheology) and chemical composition (chemical imaging).

Particle size, particle shape, zeta potential, molecular weight, chemical composition and rheological properties measurements are now joined by advanced chromatography solutions (GPC/SEC), extending Malvern's technologies for protein molecular weight, size and aggregation measurements, and synthetic polymer molecular weight and distribution. The company's laboratory, at-line, on-line and in-line solutions are proven in sectors as diverse as cement production and pharmaceutical drug discovery.

Headquartered in Malvern, UK, Malvern Instruments has subsidiary organizations in all major European markets, North America, China, Korea and Japan, a joint venture in India, a global distributor network and applications laboratories around the world. www.malvern.com
