MTS Sensors Catalog Features Industry's Most Extensive Line of Linear Position Sensors

CARY, N.C (August 1, 2006) - MTS Systems Corp. Sensors Division has introduced a new industrial product catalog for its Temposonics® linear position sensor products to better serve its customers with automation and control needs. Featuring the R-, G-, and E-Series sensors, the catalog highlights the company's significant capabilities for the wood, plastic, paper, machine tool, and other industrial markets. This includes a wide range of accessories to aid the application of Temposonics magnetostrictive sensors, as well as new programming and diagnostic tools created especially for the latest R- and G-Series sensors.

"The industrial product catalog is just another example of our commitment to becoming the ultimate resource for industrial position sensor customers," said David Edeal, Temposonics® product marketing manager for MTS. "With an extensive range of magnetostrictive products, including new sensor models and accessory options, we have put together a valuable, easy-to-use resource for industrial equipment engineers and control designers."

Featured in the catalog are MTS' state-of-the-art smart R-Series programmable sensors, which include the improved Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI) output sensors. Using a smart sensor product platform, the R-Series SSI combines superior performance-1 micron position resolution and 7500 Hz update rate-with improved reliability and durability, in a smaller sensor package at lower cost. The R-Series SSI sensor, the digital counterpart to the R-Series Analog output sensor, is available with profile or rod-style housing, and is ideal for machine tooling and other related industrial markets.

The catalog also includes information on two new E-Series products-the EP2 and ER- reliable, low-cost sensors that are ideal for new and retrofit factory automation applications. The EP2's low profile package design allows installation in limited space applications. The ER "rod and cylinder" with a variety of mounting options help to simplify sensor installation design and facilitate articulated motion sensing. These sensors can be used in production presses, injection and blow molding machines, as well as assembly and packaging equipment positioning applications.

MTS Temposonics sensors are available with a wide variety of accessories including extension cables, magnets, mounting mechanics, and electronic power supplies, meters and interfaces. Also available are a number of mechanical housing options intended for specific industries such as ATEX and UL-approved, explosion-proof and NEMA Type 4X sensor enclosures. Each of these options allows customers to build a linear position sensing system that will fit their specific application.
