Linde to Display Innovative Nitrous Oxide Delivery System for Emergency Department Use at ACEP Conference in Seattle

Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. – Linde Therapeutic Solutions will be showcasing the medical industry's first fixed-concentration nitrous oxide/oxygen (N2O/O2) therapy innovation in over 20 years at the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Annual Scientific Assembly to be held at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle, Washington October 14-16.

The SEDARA® Gas Mixer System is an innovative technology designed for consistent, controlled delivery of N2O/O2 therapy. It is intended to aid procedural pain management associated with short-duration emergency and planned procedures.

Mendy Hansen, Director of Marketing for Linde Therapeutic Solutions, said, "N2O/O2 mixtures have been used in dental and operating room applications for decades. The SEDARA® System, however, is specifically designed for use in short-term procedures conducted outside the operating room.  Users report success with the System in many clinical settings including emergency departments, burn units, and urology clinics. The System offers patients compassionate needle-free N2O/O2 administration, which translates into rapid pain relief that minimizes trauma, struggle, and physical restraint - all of which help to free up precious time for physicians and staff."

The Linde product showcase will be represented at the conference in two locations  -  first in a commercial exhibit, booth #714, staffed by Regional  Managers, and second, integrated into a simulated emergency department that is part of a new program established by ACEP, called innovatED. The innovatED is designed to present the many stations of a fully functioning hospital emergency department. "Our innovatED workstation #118 will be staffed by a Linde team of Clinical Nurse Educators as well as our Medical Advisor," said Hansen. "Our primary goals for the conference are to build awareness of the SEDARA System and to inform and educate emergency medicine clinicians on the value and relevance of nitrous oxide for pain management in the emergency department."

The SEDARA® System delivers a fixed 50/50 mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen, eliminating the complexities and risks associated with titration to adjust the gas concentrations. The device provides an option uniquely suited to the emergency department, where effective pain management, time, and efficiency are critical.

"The SEDARA® System offers clinicians an innovative, alternative solution for pain management and improving patient care," said Fred Cuffari, Head of Linde Therapeutic Solutions. "We've been receiving positive feedback from the dozens of hospital sites across the US that are evaluating the system.  Clinicians are very satisfied with the effectiveness, efficiency, safety and ease of operation of the unit."
