Agreement Must Level Playing Field for Manufacturers



Washington, D.C., – National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Vice President of International Economic Affairs Linda Dempsey issued this statement after the United States and Japan announced an agreement to allow Japan to enter the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) talks:



“Today’s announcement on Japan’s entry into the TPP marks a very substantial transformation in the talks. The commitments that Japan has made to address longstanding challenges are encouraging, and we will continue to work vigorously with the U.S. government to ensure a level playing field for all manufacturers in the United States. Much more negotiating remains, and this cannot be a quick political deal. The TPP negotiations must achieve real results that create economic growth.”
