Leapfrogging Lumens: Industry's Smallest T2 CFLs Enhance Application Versatility, Shine Brighter

CLEVELAND - Being smaller than even incandescent alternatives makes new screw-in T2 Spiral® CFL lamps from GE Consumer & Industrial a big deal. The industry's smallest available T2 CFLs - available exclusively from GE and offered in 10, 13 and 15-watt versions - complement a broad line of GE CFLs.

By producing 870 lumens, the new 13-watt T2 leapfrogs alternative lamps. It compares favorably with both the 13-watt T3 (825 lumens) in the product line and the 60-watt incandescent equivalent (840 lumens) that some hotels might still be operating in guestrooms and other areas of a property. Lumen improvements have been made to each of GE's three new T2 CFLs.

"Acceptance of CFLs continues to skyrocket, especially in such settings as hotels, where the total cost of light equation can be so dramatically affected by CFL technology and the rated life it allows," says Gary S. Crawford, CFL product manager, GE Consumer & Industrial. "Producing the industry's smallest T2 CFL, one that's brighter than its predecessor and incandescent equivalents, bolsters what we're saying about CFL efficiency and versatility."

Like all Spiral® CFLs from GE, the new T2 CFLs provide flicker-free starts, warm and pleasing incandescent-like color and excellent lumen maintenance over a 12,000-hour rated life. GE offers a CFL for virtually every socket in hotel guestrooms.

Another "small" change involves GE's T3 product line: the ballast size and maximum overall length of the 20 and 26-watt T3 Spiral® CFLs have been reduced to allow for broader application of the lamps.

An ENERGY STAR partner and 2005 recipient of the ENERGY STAR National Product Campaign Award, GE Consumer & Industrial has determined that the CFL products mentioned in this release meet the ENERGY STAR guidelines for energy efficiency as set by the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy. GE CFL lamps are competitively priced, and some are the longest-rated-life ENERGY STAR CFL products available on the market today.
