Trevose, PA -- As power plants and other process plants continue the trend toward contract-based purchasing in order to increase security and tighten purchasing channels, greater responsibility is being placed on security and closed circuit television (CCTV) integrators and contractors to procure specialty items which are outside of their normal area of business expertise.

CCTV furnace and boiler diagnostic camera systems, used to monitor and improve boiler and furnace efficiency, are one such specialty item in-demand by power plant engineers. However, when a request for one of these high temperature camera systems is sent through a contract-based purchasing channel, more often than not the contractor responsible for procuring CCTV equipment will lack the resources and knowledge necessary to fulfill the order.

Lenox Instrument Company, a manufacturer of high temperature cameras for combustion inspections, has been teaming with CCTV integrators and CCTV distributors responsible for supplying power plants and other large facilities in the steel, cement, paper mill, and refinery industries with security cameras and CCTV equipment as the demand by plant engineers for furnace cameras continues to rise.

"While high temperature furnace cameras are demanded by plant technicians and engineers to monitor and improve boiler and furnace efficiency," said Paul Lang, vice president of Lenox Instrument Company, "many of the general CCTV security camera equipment contractors are not familiar with where to source these specialized camera systems."

Lenox has been providing high temperature furnace and boiler camera products, installation and technical support to meet the demands of industry for more than 80 years. Recently, the company has emphasized their line of CCTV furnace and boiler camera systems to power generation plants in an attempt to meet increasing product demand and provide products and support to the tightly controlled contract-based purchasing channels servicing plant engineers.

"The streamlining of purchasing at large plant facilities in order to reduce the number of vendors and increase security has made it difficult to gain access," said Lang. "We want closed circuit television (CCTV) integrators to know Lenox is here to help when they receive a request for high temperature furnace camera equipment."

Furnace or boiler cameras, also called FiresightŪ Cameras, are specially designed and built to withstand the harsh high temperature environments found inside of furnaces and boilers. The cameras send a real-time, digital color picture back to a CCTV monitor where plant engineers can monitor and/or make adjustments to the flame to increase efficiency. In addition, high temperature cameras are used to monitor and improve production processes in industries such as steel and cement.

"The increase in efficiency can result in large costs savings," said Lang. "We need to make sure the CCTV contractors know that Lenox can help fill and support purchase orders for this highly specialized equipment."

Lang noted that Lenox also manufactures a full line of high-temperature camera housings made of aluminum and stainless steel to accommodate all sizes of CCD cameras including smart and machine vision cameras. The housings are liquid and air-cooled and can be used in environments from 200°F (93°C) to 4000°F (2204°C).

All Lenox high temperature CCTV furnace cameras are designed and manufactured in-house by Lenox Instrument Company and are backed by a two-year warranty. Lenox also provides in-house service for all Lenox FireSight high temperature camera products.

FireSight Diagnostic Systems are in stock and available for delivery. Lenox personnel are available to help you select the proper high temperature camera for your particular application. For more information, contact Lenox at 1-800-356-1104 or visit www.lenoxinst.com.
