LG Electronics Korea Orders About 150 Bluetooth® Testers from Rohde & Schwarz

Standard-Compliant Production Tests for LG Electronics Bluetooth(R) Mobile Phones

MUNICH, Germany--Aug. 25, 2006--LG Electronics, Korea, has ordered about 150 Bluetooth(R) testers from the German electronics company Rohde & Schwarz. LG Electronics intends to use the testers in the production of its Bluetooth(R)-compatible mobile phones. What tipped the scale in favor of the R&S CBT32 was its high measurement speed. Should it become necessary, in addition, to generate and analyze audio signals, the Rohde & Schwarz Bluetooth(R) testers can be retrofitted with the R&S CBT-B41 option.

Whether subscribers would like to exchange calling cards via their mobile phones or download music from the Internet, LG Electronics offers attractive applications on state-of-the-art Bluetooth(R) mobile phones. The new V2.0 + EDR Bluetooth(R) standard means a three-fold increase in the data transmission rate compared with the previous V1.1 and V1.2 standards. To ensure that data services will be handled smoothly and reliably also with the new standard, the Korean group uses T&M equipment from Rohde & Schwarz for EDR-specific parameter tests.

The EDR test specification stipulates four new transmitter and four new receiver tests. The CBTgo software from Rohde & Schwarz offers a total of 18 of the test cases required by the standard. The EDR option supports the loopback test mode defined by the specification. In the loopback mode, receiver sensitivity is tested under nearly realistic conditions, with a Bluetooth(R) connection set up to the mobile phone. It is also possible to perform receiver tests with a dirty transmitter as stipulated in a number of test cases.

The R&S CBT32 as well as the larger R&S CBT stand out for high measurement speed, which considerably reduces the time and cost of production tests.

The Bluetooth word mark and logos are owned by Bluetooth SIG, Inc., and any use of such marks by Rohde & Schwarz is under license.
