EnerGov to help city improve business processes, workflows and customer service
Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed an agreement with Kansas City, Mo., to replace its aging legacy permitting software with Tyler's EnerGov® planning, permitting and licensing solution. The agreement is valued at $5.8 million.
Kansas City's legacy permitting system had become difficult to support, maintain and configure. Rather than trying to upgrade its legacy system, the city conducted a competitive review to find a modern and fully integrated solution, and ultimately chose Tyler's EnerGov solution. During the city's review, Tyler demonstrated its experience in helping governments migrate from legacy permitting systems to EnerGov's modern enterprise system.
Tyler's EnerGov Web-based automation solution streamlines permitting processes while improving workflow management, business processes and customer service, and provides online access to employees and citizens. EnerGov also met the city's requirement for a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) system with an integrated user-friendly workflow management system in which data can be entered once and shared across multiple modules and subsystems.
"We are confident that EnerGov, coupled with Tyler's deep experience providing permitting and licensing solutions, will help bring multiple city departments together under one enterprise-wide system that will allow us to expedite our customer interactions and increase interdepartmental collaboration for a higher level of customer service," said Kansas City Assistant City Manager Rick Usher. "We chose EnerGov for several reasons, including its intuitive, state-of-the-art workflow capabilities that will assist us managing and streamlining our complex business processes. With its integrated use of mobile technology, we see EnerGov as a modern system that will provide the most efficiency and value to our citizens and staff."
EnerGov's mobile applications will provide enhanced, real-time accessibility to the city's staff in the field and its citizen services capabilities will offer new efficiencies to the residents of the region. Kansas City is Missouri's largest city, with a population of about 465,000. More than 400 agency users are expected to utilize the new EnerGov system once implemented.
"EnerGov is a sophisticated workflow management system designed to centralize and improve complex business processes for large organizations that need multiple departments, and even outside agencies, to be involved in the permitting and regulatory process," said Brett Cate, president of Tyler's Local Government Division. "Our clients also enjoy a superior level of service and support, and we provide integrated online experiences and access to information for employees and citizens. We look forward to helping Kansas City reach its business and customer service goals for enterprise-wide permitting."
