Hobart Brothers Engineer Recognized for Patented Welding Solution

TROY, Ohio. December 12, 2006-The ITW (Illinois Tool Works) Patent Society has recognized Anthony Nikodym for his development of an innovative metal-core wire. His patented formula reduces silicon island formation and produces weld bead toe lines that are almost completely free of silicon deposits, which helps end-users significantly reduce post-weld cleanup time.
Nikodym's innovations led to the introduction of Tri-Mark® Metalloy Vantage(TM) and Metalloy Vantage Ni1 gas-shielded metal-cored wires in 2001. Since that time, these products have proven useful in solving a variety of demanding customer needs.
Because his patent was deemed to be of significant scientific value, the ITW Patent Society, of which he has been a member since 2004, presented Nikodym with a special award during its 37th annual awards dinner.
"As an engineer, it's rewarding to see the widespread use and acceptance of my invention, and how Metalloy Vantage(TM) has helped companies improve productivity," says Nikodym. "It's truly an honor to accept this special award from the ITW Patent Society."
Nikodym earned his bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and his MBA from Wright State University. He has been a part of the Hobart Brothers' team for 13 years.
