Buildings magazine recognizes the innovation of Hirsch's multipurpose biometric
SANTA ANA, CA, July 8, 2008 - The Verification Station, manufactured by Hirsch Electronics, a leading supplier of access control and security management solutions, has been selected by Buildings magazine as a 2008 Editors' Choice Top Product Pick. The winning product is featured in the June issue of Buildings Magazine. Buildings magazine is the leading publication targeting commercial building owners and operators in North America.
"Finally...a high-end, cost-effective biometric system for more stringent security needs," stated the editors of Buildings magazine. Throughout the year, the Buildings editorial staff takes note of intriguing and innovative products that can help building owners and operators. After reviewing information on thousands of products, visiting with industry suppliers and experiencing many products firsthand, the editorial team picked the top 100 products they felt were worthy of recognition in their respective categories. These elite products were selected based on a number of factors including innovation, functionality, ease of use, aesthetics, durability/lifecycle and universal appeal.
The Hirsch Electronics Verification Station--General Purpose (Model RUU-GEN) is a high-security, multi-purpose biometric system. The RUU captures fingerprints, encodes smart cards, and enables the administrator to manage users and biometric devices. The RUU also controls access to a door or gate and verifies claimed identities at a guard or visitor checkpoint. Administrators can chose from twelve modes (e.g., finger-only, card+finger, card+code+finger, etc.), and change the combination of authentication factors as the need or situation changes. The unit is IP addressable and Power over Ethernet- (PoE) ready.
The Hirsch Verification Station also received the Security Industry Association's (SIA) New Product Showcase Award, and the RUU's biometric technology recently passed the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) rigorous testing to be placed on the TSA's "Biometrics for Access Control" Qualified Products List (QPL).
