Hertzler Systems today announced the latest release the GainSeeker® Suite, the company's flagship software for Statistical Process Control. The new version provides expanded support for Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) Devices.
Goshen, IN, October 8, 2007 - Hertzler Systems Inc., a leading provider of real-time data acquisition and analytics software, has just released GainSeeker Suite version 7.601. The new version expands support of Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) devices.
Byron Shetler, Hertzler's Chief Technology Officer, described the move: "Last year we began supporting PDA devices using Citrix and Terminal Services. Terminal Services allows users to update their GainSeeker database live using wireless technology. That live connection, which also means they can see real-time control charts on their PDA, is a huge benefit. But the downside is that you must have wireless technology and experience with Terminal Services or Citrix. We had some customers that were willing to give up the live connection to the database in exchange for the portability of the PDA."
The new version of GainSeeker supports PocketForms, a leading PDA development environment. According to Tom Albrecht, Vice President of Business Development, the new release lowers the barriers to portable and roving data acquisition. "I'm working with a client now that doesn't have a strong IT infrastructure, but he has inspectors crawling all over their product. PocketForms support makes it possible for his inspectors to carry a very small, inexpensive data collector into their work, and then bring it out to a computer to synch with the central database at the end of the shift. This will save his people lots of time, and substantially drop the cost of obtaining good clean data."
PDA support feature is one of several features the company rolled into the latest release of the popular GainSeeker Suite. "In addition to the PDA support," Shetler explained, "we added several other minor features that make GainSeeker even easier to use. These include things like more control of the display and use of web pages during data entry, the ability to sort data acquired from an external source, and a few new features for the Enterprise Dashboard that increase its flexibility."
