Henkel Websites Highlight Advantages of Adhesives for Work Truck and Trailer Manufacturing

Proven Performance of Adhesive Assembly Translates to Cost Savings

Rocky Hill, Conn. - February 25, 2009 - For decades, adhesives have been a staple in global automotive assembly, helping manufacturers to reduce costs, minimize weight and improve the aesthetics of vehicles. Two new websites from Henkel Corporation, www.gluemytrailer.com and www.gluemytruck.com, use application videos and cutaways to prove the cost saving advantages of Loctite® adhesives and sealants for the work truck and trailer industry.

At www.gluemytrailer.com, visitors can view the step-by-step assembly of a 7x10-foot trailer using Loctite® adhesives and sealants to replace many traditional mechanical fastening procedures. The website contains actual video of each step in the assembly process including bonding the trailer bed to the frame, bonding skins to the frame, seam sealing the frame and skins, bonding and sealing panel trim, bonding the diamond plate and the nose to the skins, bonding internal brackets, and threadlocking miscellaneous hardware. No mechanical fasteners were used to provide structural stability in this application, yet the end result was a tougher, more reliable, better looking trailer with reduced manufacturing costs.

At www.gluemytruck.com, visitors can select from a menu of vehicles - fire trucks, ambulances, truck bodies, transport trailers, material transport vehicles, and utility vehicles - and review relevant design and manufacturing applications for Loctite® and Teroson® adhesives and sealants. Product application categories highlighted on the site include structural bonding, window glazing, seam sealing, vibration dampening, threadlocking, thread sealing, gasketing, coating and general assembly.

The two new Henkel websites are designed to help truck and trailer makers survive and thrive in challenging economic times by teaching designers and manufacturers about the available applications and manufacturing benefits of adhesives and sealants.
