Goodrich Presence, Business in Asia on the Increase

Singapore MRO Campus grand opening is one of several initiatives in the region

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 17 -- (Singapore Airshow) -- Goodrich Corporation's (NYSE: GR) Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) campus expansion in Singapore is in alignment with the increase in business overall in the region. As a leading supplier of systems and components on a myriad of commercial and military aircraft and helicopters, the company is well positioned to serve the growing Asian aviation support and services market.

Cindy Egnotovich, Nacelles and Interior Systems Segment President for Goodrich, said, "We're encouraged by the continued growth in Asia, evidenced by our new MRO campus in Singapore," she said. "We know we need to be where our customers are to provide the best support, so we have MRO facilities around the world. And our new 530,000 square foot Singapore campus is now Goodrich's largest MRO facility."

The Singapore campus is the region's primary provider of MRO services for Boeing 777 thrust reversers, and was the first of three Goodrich facilities to participate in Boeing's Network Service Center program. The campus will also provide MRO support for Singapore Airlines' fleet of 19 Airbus A380 aircraft on a range of products under a long-term asset management services agreement.

The Singapore campus performs not only MRO work but also OE (original equipment) manufacturing as well as research and development work. Activities include design, development and production of the fan cowl for the Geared Turbofan engine test program.

In addition to the Singapore MRO campus, Goodrich operates several other facilities in Asia:

A MRO location in Xiamen, China, opened in 1996 as one of the first OEM component repair and overhaul facilities in China. The business services engine components, actuation, and fuel management systems. Most recently, they added evacuation slides as a capability.

The company's Hong Kong facility services wheels and brakes, and performs carbon machining activities.

The company's Sydney, Australia facility performs both MRO and OEM activities. Major capabilities include repair and overhaul of actuation systems, fuel management systems, rescue hoists and cargo winches, generators and electronics, and engineering services. Unique to the Sydney facility is the capability to service an extensive range of non-Goodrich components for both military and commercial applications. The location also produces a number of OEM actuation systems for the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter.

The MRO facility in Villawood, Australia services wheels and brakes made by Goodrich as well as those produced by Honeywell, Messier Bugatti, Goodrich Messier Inc., and Meggitt.

The corporation has a significant strategic sourcing initiative underway in Asia. Activities include sourcing of raw materials, machined parts, circuit card assemblies, electro-mechanical devices and electronic components. "We look to develop local suppliers to minimize the cost of supplier management and development," Egnotovich said. "Our efforts are focused on suppliers that can provide exceptional quality and on-time delivery, in addition to cost savings.

"Goodrich is well positioned on almost every aircraft flying today," Egnotovich said. "We're serving the more mature aircraft that need maintenance now. And we provide significant content on the new aircraft coming to market, such as the Airbus A380, Boeing 787 and Lockheed Martin F-35. We're meeting the challenges today and are ready for the future."
