Glide Next Beta Takes Flight: The Advent of the First Fully Mobile Desktop with Integrated Office Applications

NEW YORK, Dec. 7 /- TransMedia launches today at 12 Noon EST Glide Next (version 2.0 of the Glide OS) for consumers - a mobile desktop with integrated full-featured office applications. Glide Next effectively provides virtually anytime, anywhere access to manage and share your photos, documents, videos, music, RSS feeds, bookmarks, personal websites, blogs, profiles, email, calendars, contacts and more in a rights and identity based environment. The Glide OS resides "in the cloud" providing a safe and truly mobile online environment for personal and social computing. All family members can now safely network online and the first 10,000 families to register will receive free accounts.

Mobility

Mobility begins with Glide Sync to keep all of your files and information on your PCs and in Glide synchronized and therefore accessible virtually anytime from your mobile device. Glide Sync works hand in hand with a compatibility engine (effectively a universal translator) making it possible to easily share media with others regardless of their device, operating system, software and/or network. Glide currently supports PCs, Macs, over 20 cell phones/PDAs and Ultra-Mobile PCs (UMPCs).

"When we considered our mobile strategy for Glide OS 2.0, we wanted to make sure that the Glide service would be available to as many users as possible," said TransMedia's Chairman and CEO, Donald Leka. "We also wanted to make sure that users had the least amount of friction in setting up and accessing the service."

The required download, installation and configuration of traditional client applications and software updates on cell phones pose significant obstacles for most people, fail to create compatibility between users and tax device memory and storage. Furthermore, developing and supporting client applications for the plethora of cell phones and PDAs on the market is ultimately impractical limiting the number of devices that can be supported. "We decided that the most sustainable and effective development strategy to meet our objectives is a full-featured entirely browser-based mobile application. We are confident that Glide Mobile is the most user-friendly and compatible full-featured mobile application to hit the market," said Mr. Leka.

Starting today, Glide supports the following mobile devices: Blackberry Pearl, Blackberry 7290, Blackberry 8700g, Blackberry 8700c, Blackberry 8700r, Cingular 8125, HP iPAQ hw6510, Motorola Q, Motorola RAZR V3, Motorola SLVR L7, Motorola V188, Nokia 6680, Nokia 6682, Nokia 9300, Nokia E62, Palm Treo 650, Palm Treo 680, Palm Treo 700W, Cingular Samsung Blackjack, Samsung A707, Samsung D807, Sony Ericsson W600i, Sony Ericsson W900i, T-Mobile SDA and more.

A user who does not see his device on the Glide Mobile support list can submit his make and model. Glide Mobile can be optimized to support a new device in as little as 24 hours. In short order, we look forward to supporting hundreds of cell phones PDAs and other mobile devices. Many of the already listed phones support a rich multimedia experience and all support Glide's file management and rights based sharing.

The ability to manage and securely share gigabytes of files and information from a cell phone is powerful. Even when you are away from your home or office, you can still instantly access, manage and share all of your files and information. With Glide's built in synchronization, compatibility and mobility, you can access all of your photos, documents, videos, music, RSS feeds, bookmarks, email, calendars, contacts and more in a rights and identity based environment.

TransMedia is also working with Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) to optimize the Glide Desktop for Intel powered Ultra-Mobile PCs (UMPCs). Intel is delivering new technologies to enable a new category of small, thin, and light UMPCs as the perfect PC companion. The UMPC category offers consumers small, ultra-mobile devices with full PC capabilities, uncompromised Internet access and connectivity, and the ability to recognize and adapt to its environment virtually anytime and anywhere.

"Consumers are looking for convenient ways to access the Internet and enjoy their favorite digital content wherever they are," said Pankaj Kedia, Director of Ecosystem Programs, Ultra Mobility Group at Intel. "We welcome TransMedia's interest in the Ultra-Mobile PC and are happy to be working with them to support the mobile Glide desktop on this platform."

Software as a Service (SaaS)

With the launch of the second-generation platform, Glide elevates software as a service to the next logical step; full-featured web based applications that rival the power of local desktop applications and at a significantly lower price point.
