(DETROIT, MI; March 16, 2009) - Laser Design, Inc., and GKS Inspection Services, leading providers of 3D laser scanning systems and services for over 20 years, welcomed Giles Gaskell to their Michigan team as the Business Development Manager. Gaskell is one of the most experienced professionals in the 3D scanning industry, having worked internationally on projects with many of the world's leading manufacturers since 1995.
Gaskell is collaborating with Steve DeRemer, GKS General Manager, out of the GKS facility in Plymouth, Michigan. He is tasked with expanding the market for Laser Design's 3D scanning hardware and software solutions, and the scanning services offered by GKS Inspection Services, Laser Design's engineering services division. In addition, Gaskell will be developing joint ventures as well helping to secure partners in the industry to broaden GKS's range of service coverage.
Gaskell is a veteran in the field of 3D scanning for reverse engineering and inspection. He has been working to increase the technology's acceptance and use in such industries as aerospace and power generation since 1995. A graduate of Aston University in Birmingham, England, he earned an honor's degree in mechanical engineering. He founded companies in both the UK and in Italy that provided non-contact reverse engineering hardware, software, and expertise to a wide range of customers including many of Europe's most prestigious design, engineering, and manufacturing companies.
In 2005 Gaskell moved to the U.S. and was employed as Director of Business Development for NVision Inc. "Although the marketplace is tough nowadays we believe the addition of an experienced business development executive like Giles is the key to expanding our market reach while taking care of our valued customer base," remarked C.
