Fluke 27 II and 28 II Industrial Multimeters Gain Approval from Mine Safety and Health Administration

World recognized approval rating assures miners of fully tested equipment suitable for safe use underground

EVERETT, Wash. - Fluke Corporation, the global leader in portable electronic test and measurement technology, announced today that the Fluke 27 II and 28 II Industrial Multimeters have gained approval from the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) as approved instruments for use in mining situations.

The purpose of the Mine Safety and Health Administration is to prevent death, disease and injury from mining and to promote safe and healthful workplaces for miners in the United States of America. According to the United States Department of Labor, the MSHA approval issued by the organization's Approval and Certification Center is internationally recognized.

MSHA approval adds another element of versatility to the ultra-rugged Fluke 27 II and 28 II Industrial Multimeters. Both meters have IP 67 (waterproof and dustproof) rating, extended operating temperature range of -15 °C to +55 °C (5 °F to 131 °F, -40 °C for up to 20 minutes), and function in up to 95 percent humidity. Both have been designed and tested to withstand a 3 m (10 ft) drop.

The Fluke 27 II and 28 II is MSHA approved under Part 18 - Instruments of MSHA's "List of Approved Products." This is a highly selective list of only about 250 instruments. The Fluke 27 II and 28 II are the most recent additions to the MSHA list, receiving approval 18-A100015 on September 17, 2010.
