Federal Building Budgets and Plans Revealed at FEDCon® 2010
Attend FEDCon® 2010 - The Market Outlook Conference on Federal Construction, to get the most authoritative, up-to-date information on federal agency building and infrastructure budgets, construction forecasts, and regulatory updates. Presented by the National Institute of Building Sciences, FEDCon® will take place Tuesday, December 7, at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., alongside the Institute's Annual Meeting and the Ecobuild America conference and exhibition.
FEDCon® 2010 gives private-sector architects, engineers, general and specialty contractors, and manufacturers insight on what they need to know to deliver services and products to the U.S. federal government-the world's largest facility owner and procurer of design and construction services.
"With the recent federal agency interest in high-performance building and sustainable design, we anticipate an elevated level of federal activity this year," said Institute President Henry L. Green, Hon. AIA. "FEDCon® brings design and construction professionals together with government agency leaders in a forum that lets the agencies share current priorities and helps the building community plan for the future."
Officials from a number of federal agencies, including the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. General Services Administration, NASA, U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), U.S. Department of Transportation and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will present their construction budgets for the current year and planned budgets for future years, discuss the types of buildings to be designed, offer regional and international construction information, and provide the overall direction of their design/construction programs.
In addition, Christopher Doyle, Director of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Science and Technology Infrastructure and Geophysical Division (DHS S&T IGD), will present the luncheon keynote address. He will discuss the importance of addressing building security when designing high-performance buildings. As Division Director, Doyle is responsible for the Department's research and development (R&D) initiatives in the areas of emergency response and critical infrastructure protection. In his 17 years of public and private sector service, Doyle has developed a proven track record for identifying and anticipating trends in critical infrastructure protection and emergency management.
