Press release date: January 17, 2012

ETTERS, PA (January 17, 2012) -- FCI, a leading developer of connectors and interconnect systems, has announced that its website, www.fciconnect.com, now provides 3D downloadable models and a 3D viewer to reduce engineers' design time and improve the quality of technical information available to the engineering community.

"FCI's goal is to provide visitors with any technical information they may need regarding its connector products and their specification to ensure customer satisfaction each time they visit the FCI website," said Marilyne Denis, website and e-marketing manager, FCI. "We are continually enhancing the website to make it even easier for customers to work directly with our organization, to meet all needs and be a benchmark in the industry."

As a leading connector manufacturer, FCI recognizes the ever-increasing need to utilize CAD formats as time-to-market has become a critical issue for all designers. By providing access to these capabilities, FCI continues to offer web visitors continuous and enriched content.

FCI worked with TraceParts, a leading digital engineering 3D content provider, to offer the service. To date, there are more than 15,000 parts included in this new functionality with the eventual goal of including all FCI promoted products.

The link to the 3D view and CAD download can be accessed from a link on the product's datasheet. By clicking on the link, users see a 3D view of the product with different options: rotation, color or surface finish. To download the 25 CAD formats, the user selects the format of choice, depending on the system used, and then signs in.

In the second phase of this project, FCI will publish its entire catalog on TraceParts online.
