Elmo's Multi-Axis Supervisor Includes New Firmware for DS402 and DS305 Protocol Support and CAN Network IO Integration

Westford, MA, April 5, 2006 - Elmo Motion Control, Inc. today announced availability of the latest release of its Maestro Multi-Axis Supervisor with rich new features and a fuller command set. The new version includes new firmware which enables the Maestro to support the DS305 configuration protocol, DS401 CAN network IO integration protocol and DS402 motion control protocol. The Maestro is now also integrated with CAN network IOs according to the DS401 protocol.

Elmo's Maestro is a network-based multi-axis motion supervisor that operates in conjunction with intelligent servo drives to provide a full multi-axis motion control solution. The Maestro is based on distributed motion control architecture which spreads the processing power across the network. When working with Elmo's SimplIQ family of servo drives, the Maestro can allocate tasks to the drives and "leave" them to perform the tasks autonomously. This vastly reduces the amount of network traffic and the load on the processor.

The Maestro operates as an Ethernet-CAN gateway as well as a full motion controller and has two CAN ports. Each port can handle up to 64 axes. Other ports on the Maestro enable it to handle up to 16 digital inputs, 16 digital outputs and 4 analog inputs.

About Elmo Motion Control Elmo Motion Control designs, produces and markets highly efficient and compact servo amplifiers and digital servo drives for brush and brushless motors. Elmo's SimplIQ products are integrated in robots, semi-conductor production equipment, avionics, machine tools, packaging equipment, textile equipment, medical equipment and anywhere highly precise and reliable equipment is necessary.
