Press release date: February 12, 2013

When setting up its new facility in Beijing in 2012, Hong Kongbased post house Digit Digit again opted for future-proof DVS storage systems. Four SpycerBoxes Ultra with a total capacity of 288 TB build the technological backbone of the company. The SpycerBox storage setup provides unprecedented performance.

Hanover/Beijing. Hong Kong-based post production studio Digit Digit chose cutting-edge DVS technology when building up the core infrastructure of its new facility in Beijing in 2012. After a major update of its storage architecture in its headquarters in 2010 with four DVS SpycerBoxes, Digit Digit decided to invest in the proven technology again when opening up its new studio, the first site outside of Hong Kong. The SpycerBoxes from DVS form 288 TB of central storage in a single namespace - aggregating all content processed on the third-party clients. Connected via low-latency Fibre Channel, the compositing and VFX departments benefit from the best-in-class performance of the SpycerBox storage network.

DVS's content control software Spycer® is a core component in the new setup. It allows facilitywide, cross-platform data management and speeds up the data flow: Operators at Digit Digit can easily search the entire network for video assets and their metadata and move the content within the post production chain. As a result, organizing becomes significantly faster and more transparent. The stand-alone Mephisto data manager handles defragmenting and descattering and thus guarantees steady optimum performance.

As one of Asia's leading post production houses, Digit Digit counts on expertise combined with state-of-the-art equipment. With a focus on premium commercial post accounts, data integrity and zero-downtime operation are the key aspects for the storage architecture. Secure access is granted even with high speed connectivity - protecting the customers' assets against unauthorized modifications.

Nicky Ng, Executive Director at Digit Digit: "For our very first setup outside of Hong Kong, our main criteria for choosing DVS' storage solutions were their reliability and performance stability. With our A-list international clients, data integrity and security is essential for our business. We also benefit from the strong support network with our local partner Altec in Beijing as well the DVS team in Singapore."

Eric Augereau, APAC Sales Manager for DVS at Rohde & Schwarz: "SpycerBox is the ideal solution to suit Digit Digit's demands for high performance and reliability. The perfect communication between SpycerBox and the different third-party clients leads to significant time savings in Digit Digit's daily workflow."
