Dialog Honors 2006 International Infostars for Outstanding Achievement in the Information Industry

London, UK, November 28, 2006 -- Dialog, a Thomson business, today introduced the three winners of its 2006 International Quantum(2) InfoStar Awards, which are presented annually to information professionals whose achievements demonstrate leadership and inspire others in their industry.

This year's winners, as announced during a special ceremony at the Online Information 2006 conference meeting here this week, are:

Jane List, information analyst, The Technology Partnership (Cambridge, United Kingdom), praised for sharing her extensive expertise of intellectual property information. List is well known in the patent information arena for conference presentations and articles published in industry publications focusing on patent information in the Far East. Within The Technology Partnership, List is responsible for providing information services to support a variety of research needs, particularly in the areas of physics and engineering.

Carmen Pacho Guiterrez, documentalist, Repsol YPF S.A. (Madrid, Spain), honored for her enthusiasm and search expertise that has helped raise the profile of her department and for building a proactive approach to those who use her department's services. She has overseen development of a robust alerting and competitive intelligence solution for her community, utilizing her deep understanding of industry solutions.

Sonja Van der Haeghen, medical information and drug safety coordinator, AstraZeneca (Brussels, Belgium), recognized for taking charge of her own professional development after entering the information industry in a non-traditional way. In her 10 years working in AstraZeneca's Medical Information and Drug Safety Unit, Van der Haeghen has continued to challenge herself by developing her strategic and business skills in information management. Her efforts have translated to a broader benefit in supporting the information needs of AstraZeneca.

"It's easy to see why this year's InfoStars are being honored as exceptional examples within the profession," said Libby Trudell, Dialog vice president of information professional market development. "They seek out challenges for themselves and find ways to improve their skills, while also bringing improvements to their organizations and the larger information community. The leadership they have demonstrated is truly inspirational."

As part of its Quantum(2) program that offers leadership development services to information professionals worldwide, Dialog annually designates recipients of its InfoStar Awards in various regions around the world.
