DeLorme inReach SE Wins Pittman Innovation Award from SAIL Magazine

Yarmouth, Maine – SAIL Magazine's editors have recognized DeLorme's inReach SE (Screen Edition) as one of the most innovative sailing products for 2013.

The inReach SE was honored with a Pittman Innovation Award in SAIL's February 2014 issue, published this week. Named for Freeman K. Pittman, SAIL's widely respected technical editor of 14 years, who died of Lou Gehrig's disease in 1996, the awards are presented annually to recognize innovative gear for sailors.

The Pittman Award judges stated, "The inReach SE is an extraordinarily versatile handheld GPS tracker and global two-way Iridium satellite messenger."

Introduced in June 2013, inReach SE is a second-generation pocket-size satellite communicator that provides GPS tracking, two-way text messaging and SOS distress alerting for people whose work or recreational interests take them into off-the-grid locations beyond the reach of terrestrial wireless networks. The inReach SE offers 100 percent global coverage through the Iridium satellite network.
