Press release date: June 1, 2011

AMHERST, NH, USA - ControlAir, Inc., leading manufacturer of precision pneumatic and electro-pneumatic controls has announced its compliance to ANSI/ISA 12.27.01-2003 for their Type-950XP Explosion-proof I/P Transducer for use with natural gas.

ANSI/ISA - 12.27.01-2003 provides specific requirements for process sealing between electrical systems and flammable or combustible process fluids where a failure could allow the migration of process fluids directly into the electrical system.

Tested by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), all Type-950 transducers with the natural gas option will now come with the Single Seal marking to indicate compliance. A single seal pressure sensor has a significant cost savings and is much more compact than dual seal devices.

The Type 950XP is also approved by Factory Mutual (FM) for explosion-proof applications and compliant with the European ATEX directive 94/9/EC for equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. The Type 950XP I/P Transducer has a built-in volume-booster that provides up to 10 SCFM air flow capacity to drive large valves, cylinders and actuators. The unit utilizes an input signal of 4-20 mA and has standard output ranges of 3-15 psig, 3-27 psig and 6-30 psig with optional field selectable settings. Maximum supply pressure is 100 psig. The standard mounting bracket allows mounting directly on a valve, wall, panel, or pipe. The Type 950XP is insensitive to position, vibration, supply pressure variation and RMI/EFI interference.

ControlAir Inc. manufactures precision pneumatic and electro-pneumatic controls. ControlAir's markets include oil and gas, process control, semiconductor, printing and converting presses, diagnostic and surgical medical equipment, robotics, quality control, automotive, analyzers, compressors, pumps and paint equipment.
