Comprehensive Education Program Adds Value to Pack Expo



Partnerships with Industry Groups Provide Insight from Across the Supply Chain

Arlington, Va.; - PMMI, sponsor and producer of the PACK EXPO trade shows, is collaborating with several influential industry groups to bring an extensive education program to this fall's PACK EXPO International 2010 (Oct. 31-Nov. 3; McCormick Place, Chicago, IL). More than 35 sessions from five associations will give packaging and processing professionals insight into trends, strategies and innovations from across the entire production supply chain.

"From day one, our goal has been to make PACK EXPO a resource that can help brand owners conduct business better, smarter and more efficiently," says Charles D. Yuska, president and CEO, PMMI. "By working with the groups that matter to attendees across the supply chain to integrate educational opportunities into PACK EXPO, we can ensure they get the most out of their time spent at the show."

Attendees interested in registering for any of the education sessions must first register as a PACK EXPO attendee. Registrations received online before Oct. 18 will be charged $30 for admission. Full admission ($60) will be charged online after Oct. 18 and on site.

During the registration process, attendees can select the conference sessions they would like to participate in. Separate registration fees, noted below, will be charged for conference sessions.

Following is an overview of the partnerships planned for PACK EXPO International 2010:

o The Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) is working with the co-located CPP EXPO to create conference programming that offers attendees insight into improving operations, increasing efficiency and maintaining equipment. Sessions will be held Monday, Nov. 1, and Tuesday, Nov. 2. Attendees will be charged $60 for each session before Oct. 18. After Oct. 18 and on site, session fees increase to $75 each.

o The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) is co-locating its first-ever Manufacturing Excellence Conference at PACK EXPO on Monday, Nov. 1, and Tuesday, Nov. 2. The conference will feature three general session speakers covering leadership, food safety and modeling the factory of the future, and three concurrent tracks - product safety, sustainability and operational reliability. Registration for the full conference program is $495 before Oct. 18. Costs increase to $550 after Oct. 18 and on site. Attendees registering for the GMA Manufacturing Excellence Conference will be refunded the initial PACK EXPO registration fee.

o The Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) will host the Packaging Learning Center, a series of seminars led by a mix of end-users, industry consultants and suppliers. Running from Monday, Nov. 1, through Wednesday, Nov. 3, the seminars will focus on a range of topics at the forefront of the packaging industry, including sustainability and food safety. Sessions run from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Nov. 1-2, and from 8 a.m. - Noon on Nov. 3. Attendees will be charged $99 per session before Oct.18. Fees increase to $129 per session after Oct. 18 and on site.

o PAC - The Packaging Associationis bringing the interactive PAC Green Den program to PACK EXPO on Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 1 p.m. -4:30 p.m. Entitled "Fast Tracking Sustainable Innovation," the program unites elements of successful reality television and business matchmaking. The agenda includes "innovators" presenting solutions to a panel of experts and a live audience of brand owners and retailers - and receiving constructive feedback - and a short keynote address from upcycling pioneer Tom Szaky of TerraCycle. The registration fee for PAC Green Den is $90 prior to Oct. 18 and $129 after that date or on site.

o The Reusable Packaging Association (RPA) will host a special workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. Tentatively titled "Reusable Packaging 101," the session will help attendees navigate the preliminary steps required to adopt a reusable packaging solution. This includes defining the products and services available, cost analysis, supply chain modeling and financing options. The workshop will serve as the first of a four-part curriculum being developed to help companies evaluate, build acceptance for, implement and refine their choice of reusable packaging systems.
