Clean Harbors Environmental Services, Inc.
42 Longwater Dr.
Norwell, MA, 02061
USA

Press release date: March 17, 2011

Now offered to state, county and local government agencies

NORWELL, Mass. - Clean Harbors, North America's leading provider of environmental, energy and industrial services, today announced cleanup and disposal services for clandestine drug facilities discovered by law enforcement officers and emergency responders.

Clean Harbors, which has routinely provided lab cleanup services to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is now expanding its 24/7 offering to states, counties and local governments, law enforcement agencies and regulators that are faced with the cleanup and disposal of clandestine labs materials.

"Illegal drug operations often involve several dangerous materials - from chemicals to volatile materials and compressed gases," explained Clean Harbors Senior Vice President, Site Services Scott Metzger. "Clean Harbors provides law enforcement agencies with quick response teams to safely and securely handle the entire project with certified disposal using our own chemists, drivers, trucks and destruction facilities. We give authorities peace of mind by handling the entire process."

Complete Chemical Management
Clean Harbors specialists establish the chain of custody from the minute that they arrive on site. They collect, label, segregate, package, and prepare the chemical waste for transportation and offsite disposal according to all DEA, Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. Drug ingredients are adulterated prior to packing to prevent further use.

Trained Clean Harbors personnel provide onsite "fingerprint" analyses of unknown compounds in order to determine the physical properties of the chemicals and package them properly. Specialists also evaluate all compressed gas cylinders to verify the contents, determine their transportability and ultimate disposition.

All materials are shipped in Clean Harbors-owned trucks with company drivers to one or more of Clean Harbors 50 waste management facilities. The company offers witnessed destruction, as well as certificates of disposal and all other required reports. Chain of custody is maintained from the point of origin through destruction.

Clean Harbors Clandestine Lab Cleanup Services are available 24/7 across the United States. For more information visit: www.cleanharbors.com/clandestinelabcleanup. To request Clean Harbors Clandestine Lab Cleanup Services call 1.800.OIL.TANK (1.800.645.8265).
