City Of Boston Premieres New User-Friendly Web Site


BOSTON, Nov. 2-- Keane, Inc. today announced a newly redesigned Web site for the City of Boston, www.cityofboston.gov/. Keane, Inc. (NYSE:KEA), a leading business process and information technology (IT) services firm, led the IT strategy and planning of the Web site redesign, assisted in determining the overall long-term goals and identifying the best practices for achieving those goals.

The new Web site has been designed to make it easy for Boston's residents, businesses, students, and visitors to quickly find the information they need and to conduct business with the City. Notable enhancements to the site include:

o A new navigation structure built around the needs of the City's diverse
constituency

o Dedicated content sections for each major constituent group

o User-friendly access to all City departments and services

o An option to contest parking tickets online

o Updated sites for every City department

o Expanded services to secure City permits

o Additional capabilities for online bill payment, including water bills

In the IT strategy and planning development phase of the Web site redesign, Keane collaborated with the City to conduct a series of workshops with representatives from a broad range of City agencies with the goal of identifying primary user groups and the core services and functions needed to better serve them. After prioritizing identified services and functions for each user group, Keane developed a new high-level site map and mental model. Keane then developed detailed wireframes for key pages to illustrate layout and functionality and finally established the visual design options for the site, with a focus on enhancing its usability.
